About

Senior executives from Bluesky and Canada's own Gander Social will discuss how they built their apps on AT Protocol, and why open protocols will win out over traditional closed legacy platforms. They'll share why the AT Protocol - an open standard that allows different social apps to share the same underlying network - is the biggest opportunity for builders today to accelerate growth by tapping into millions of existing users. This session is for startup founders, app builders, software developers, and social-media specialists who want to get involved in a fast-growing ecosystem. Format: 30 minutes of informal speaking by the two presenters, followed by 20-30 minutes of Q&A from the audience, followed by social/networking time with a cash bar. Presenters: Jennifer Mitchell, COO, Gander Social Alex Garnett, Developer Relations, Bluesky Toronto Tech Week is a citywide celebration of the people building what’s next. From May 25–29, 2026, founders, investors, and builders come together for hundreds of community-led events across Toronto, connecting tens of thousands of people around Canadian tech.
