About

This is not one company. It is a pattern that repeats across the Toronto tech ecosystem. A company raises a Series B. They sign a lease for space built for 280 people. Eighteen months later they reduce their workforce to 160. The lease has no break clause. The space cannot be sublet because it was designed as one open floor. Every Monday morning 160 people walk into an office built for 280 and sit in the daily reminder of what happened. The rent runs over a million dollars a year. The lease has seven years left. The conversation that would have prevented this takes 45 minutes. This session is for founders, operators, and investors who are either approaching a real estate decision or watching one play out across their portfolio. We will cover three things: •       The governance gap that makes real estate the most expensive decision nobody owns in a growth-stage company •       The specific window in the Series A to Series B journey where the mistake gets locked in •       The three questions every operator should answer before signing anything This is the only session at Toronto Tech Week focused on the real estate and workplace decisions that growth-stage companies make during their most critical funding windows. Remote-first companies: this applies to you too. Remote-first does not mean real estate free. It means you are making your real estate decisions without admitting you are making them. Those are the most expensive kind. Hosted by Syed Rashid Masood Rizvi, Founder of AM Masons Advisory, with 18 years of global workplace and real estate leadership at Procter and Gamble across 180 sites and 20 markets. This is the only Corporate Real Estate & Workplace event on the agenda so far! Space is limited to 35 attendees. Register to secure your spot. ___ Toronto Tech Week is a citywide celebration of the people building what’s next. From May 25–29, 2026, founders, investors, and builders come together for hundreds of community-led events across Toronto, connecting tens of thousands of people around Canadian tech.
